Publicis Sapient is looking for a Senior Associate Accessibility Specialist to join our team. Job Description
- Collaborate with application users and review applications across browsers to determine and prioritize JAWS update requirements.
- Develop JAWS script updates to enhance accessibility for users who are blind or who have low vision within applications.
- Work in tandem with application users to deploy JAWS script updates.
- Engage with architects, designers, developers, and analysts to embed accessibility requirements into new enhancement acceptance criteria.
- Conduct JAWS testing of newly developed enhancements against accessibility acceptance criteria and offer feedback to development teams.
- Provides support as needed in the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of digital accessibility across websites, applications, and social media.
- Guides teams in the ongoing creation of accessible digital content as needed, participating in design reviews, drafting accessibility requirements for new features, and generally helping cross-capability team members to design, develop, and author content that meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- Coach and guide designers and engineers on advanced digital accessibility principles as needed.
- Collaborate with other accessibility, design and usability specialists.
Qualifications
- Mandatory skill set: Proficiency in JAWS scripting.
- Deep knowledge of accessibility standards, trends, best practices, and requirements.
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of and experience using various assistive technologies. Reliance on assistive technologies for daily work is an asset.
- Accessibility certification is a bonus: IAAP CPACC, WAS, CPWA, or the DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester designation. There is an expectation to achieve this within the year.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, computer science, computer engineering, human factors or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- Three or more years practical web accessibility experience.
- Five or more years experience in one of at least three disciplines, such as front end development, experience design, quality assurance, or in a diversity and inclusion related role.
- A passion for and deep understanding of inclusive design.
- Proven ability to provide accessibility solutions for designers, developers, and testers.
- Expert communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into relatable scenarios and influence design outcomes.
- Intermediate or higher programming skills, with the ability to explain desired technology outcomes to development teams.
- High Level of awareness of disability related issues with respect to digital accessibility.
- Self-driven, with ability to take ownership and accountability; must be adept at working in a self-guided manner to drive inclusive design principles.
Additional Information
Pay Range: $105,000 - $125,000
The range shown represents a grouping of relevant ranges currently in use at Publicis Sapient. Actual range for this position may differ, depending on location and specific skillset required for the work itself.
